Dragonboat is an exciting sport! Easy to learn but hard to master. Each roster has a minimum of 16 people, maximum of 28, 20 people paddle in the boat at a time and there needs to be at least 10 female paddlers. Except if you are paddling in Sport Open. (Read the Sport Division page for more information)
Each crew will participate in four races (two heats, a special race, and a final.) Teams, whether they are local, national or international, will all be competing in the same race structure.
Each crew has a steer, and a drummer, if you would like to hire one, you can contact Sunnyside Paddling Club for more information: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Drummers or steer-persons can be either men or women for any types of entries, and for multiple teams.
Need Paddlers or want to be a Paddler?
If you would like to create a team but need some more members, or if you are new to Toronto and would like to join our team, email email@example.com we will match people together like pieces in a puzzle.
Register a Team Online
There are three things you have to decide upon while filling out the registration: The division, category, and special race.
Choose a Division
(A) Premier Mixed Division - Both men and women paddling, minimum of 10 women paddlers.
(B) Premier Women Division- Only women paddlers
(C) Junior Mixed Division - Crew members who are at least 15 but under 19 years of age on February 12, 2016.
(D) Dragon Boat Canada Sport - A competitive league regulated by Dragon Boat Canada. Dragon Boat Canada must confirm the team’s eligibility before acceptance into this division.
Choose a Category
100% of each team must fit into the following categories. Teams not registered as Corporate are not allowed to have a Team Name that promotes a business, represent any commercial interests, or take part in the races wearing or displaying any clothing or other items such as banners displaying commercial interests.
(A) Corporate - staff from a business creating a team.
(B) Community - people not connected to a corporation organizing a team.
(C) University - students in college or university.
(D) Junior- High school students between the ages of 15-19.
(E) Sport Open - all men’s group that races in the Dragon Boat Canada Sport Regatta.
(F) Sport Women - all women’s group that races in the Dragon Boat Canada Sport Regatta.
Choose a Special Race
This race is normally organized to have groups of bankers, hospital, non-profit, educators, international/National and university teams race each other for one race. If there are at least 4 teams in a category, we can create a special race for that group. Put down a group you would like to create and we will see if it can be done!
Actual placement in each category will be done at the discretion of the TIDBRF
Waivers can be completed through the online registration. If you are under 18 please submit a manual waiver, signed by a parent or legal guardian.
Team Rosters are due June 3rd. Feel free to email them to firstname.lastname@example.org or hand them in at the Captain’s Meeting.
The Captains’ meeting will be held in June to go over the race structure, rules, waivers, rosters, and hand out any important information.
